Adult Education Center
Edward F. Thicksten Continuing Education Center
The Edward F. Thicksten Continuing Education Center is a
full-time program providing educational opportunities
for adults - particularly the undereducated and disadvantaged.
While it is an integral component of the Van Buren School District,
enrollment is not limited to those adults residing within
the district boundaries. Any Crawford County resident
is eligible for admission to the Continuing Education Center.
In addition to the classes in the Continuing Education
Center, outreach classes are available at various locations
throughout Crawford County. The Edward F. Thicksten
Continuing education Center has been in operation since
August of 1995.
Programs of instruction include the following:
- Adult Basic Education
- General Adult Education
- English as a Second Language
- Adult High School Diploma
- Microcomputer Technology
- Community Services
Support services available at the Edward F. Thicksten Continuing Education Center include personal,
educational, and vocational counseling; career orientation and job placement; community referral services; interpreter
services; and computer-assisted instructional remediation.
