Van Buren School District to participate in School Choice Program for 2017-18

Deadline set for May 1


VAN BUREN, AR (March 8, 2017) The Van Buren School District is now accepting applications to

participate in the School Choice Program for the 2017-2018 school year. Authorized by the Arkansas

General Assembly in Act 609 of 1989, the School Choice Program allows parents the option to apply

for their child’s admission to participating school districts outside of the one in which they

reside.


Applications are available at the Van Buren School District Administration Building, located at

2221 Pointer Trail in Van Buren. Parents must complete the required form and return the documents

to VBSD. Documents may be hand delivered to the VBSD Administration Building. The deadline to apply

is May 1, 2016.

Applicants may indicate a school preference, but all assignments will be based on space and program

availability. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance or rejection by July 1, 2017.

Students who reside out of state or who are currently expelled from school are not eligible for

participation.
