Kindergarten Registration POSTPONED

UPDATE-March 20, 2020
As schools will remain closed through April 17, 2020, Kindergarten Registration for the Van Buren School District (originally scheduled for April 3) HAS BEEN POSTPONED. A new date will be determined at a later time. Details will be announced in the coming weeks for how and when to register incoming kindergarteners.

The Van Buren School District will host Kindergarten Registration for the 2020-2021 school year Friday, April 3, 2020, beginning at 8 a.m. Parents will report to the elementary school in the zone where they reside. Families zoned for VBSD’s newest elementary school, Oliver Springs Elementary, will report to the Van Buren School District Professional Development Center located at 60 Northridge Drive next to Northridge Middle School. Families who have questions about where their residence is zoned can view the Attendance Zone Map located on the District website, www.VBSD.us.

Kindergarten students for the 2020-2021 school year must turn five years of age on or before August 1, 2020. Parents should bring: a copy of their child’s shot record, birth certificate, social security card, proof of address, and proof of a physical exam from a doctor dated within the past two years.

To date Arkansas law requires the following immunizations: four DTap and three Polio doses, one of which is received after the child’s fourth birthday; one Hepatitis A, on or after the first birthday; three Hepatitis B; two MMRs, one of which is received after the first birthday, and two Varicella (Chicken Pox) vaccines, one of which is received after the first birthday.

All parents who attend Kindergarten Registration will receive a Kindergarten readiness bag that will include supplies to work with their child. Parents needing to determine what school their child is zoned to attend can call any elementary school or the VBSD Administration Office at 479-474-7942. For more information, visit www.VBSD.us.
