VBSD Attendance Area Exception applications due April 15

The Van Buren School District will begin accepting applications for In-District Area Exceptions for the 2020-2021 school year beginning Monday, March 2. Applications may be printed from the Van Buren School District website. They are also available at any VBSD elementary school, middle school, or the VBSD Administration Office, located at 2221 Pointer Trail East.

“Completed area exception forms must be returned to the school where you are requesting to attend,” explained VBSD Deputy Superintendent Brian Summerhill. Parents completing an area exception for the District’s newest elementary school, Oliver Springs Elementary, must return the application in-person to the Van Buren School District Administration Office. The application deadline is April 15.

“While we try to accommodate families and their attendance preferences, parents should note that completing an area exception application does not guarantee it will be approved,” said Summerhill.

Applications are on a first come, first serve basis. Approvals are dependent on space in the school requested. If an area exception is approved, parents are responsible for transporting their child to school. Bus transportation will not be provided.
