VBSD Area of Exception Deadline extended to May 5

The Van Buren School District has extended the deadline to apply for an Area of Exception to May 5. Due to campus closures and COVID-19 social distancing requirements, VBSD has also moved the application process to an online format.

Area of exception applications are for parents who wish to send their child to a school in the District for which they are not currently zoned. Parents can fill out a form online and email the completed application to Deputy Superintendent Brian Summerhill at bsummerhill@vbsd.us. The new online form requires parents type their name in the signature line. The notary requirement has also been waived for this year's application.

Applications are on a first come, first serve basis. Approvals are dependent on space in the school requested. If an area exception is approved, parents are responsible for transporting their child to school. Bus transportation will not be provided.
