The Great Kindness Tree
This picture shows two of our awesome students checking out the kindness tree. This huge tree has become a fixture in our front hallway; everyone passes this tree several times a day. A new leaf is added each time someone is caught being kind. Students are showcased at rise and shine as a testament that KINDNESS MATTERS!! We have leaves for helping a teacher carrying books, sharing a book during center time, and even one leaf was given to a custodian when he helped a student in the hallway!
King is also participating in the GREAT KINDNESS CHALLENGE http://www.greatkindnesschallenge.org/ . This nationwide event is being held the last week of January. The challenge is a proactive and positive bullying prevention initiative that improves school climate and increases student engagement. The GREAT KINDNESS CHALLENGE is one week devoted to performing as many kind acts as possible. Our school will have a pep rally and other activities that show that bullying is weak and kindness is strength.
