SCHOOL RESPONSIBILITIES

Northridge Middle School will:

Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet Arkansas’ student academic achievement standards as follows:

Van Buren Instructional Model

Content-Learners construct or build knowledge through processes that include conceptual engagement, organizing knowledge and metacognition.

Process-Explicit Instruction Model: Explain, Model, Guided Practice,

Independent Practice, Apply, Create and Share

Content-Comprehensive Literacy, Standards-based Math, Inquiry-Based Science

Hold parent-teacher conferences to discuss areas as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Specifically, those conferences will be held:

Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically staff will be available

for consultation with parents as follows:

Northridge Middle School believes a successful partnership with parents is

the key to student success. Teachers will communicate regularly with parents

concerning classroom goals and activities, as well as individual information on

student progress. If a situation arises, which requires the immediate attention

of the student’s teacher or principal, parents may call the school to schedule a

conference or contact the teacher via email.

Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class

Classroom activities as follows:

PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES

We, as parents, will support our children’s learning in the following ways:

Ensure our children attend school regularly by monitoring their attendance.

Make sure our children are prepared for class by arriving on time and with the appropriate materials.

Stay in contact with our children’s teachers through regular communication-reading and responding to notices.

Support the goals of the school and participate as much as possible in the decision making processes related to our children’s education.

Volunteer when needed

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES (Created by the Northridge School Student Council (2011-12)

We, as students, will share the responsibility to improve our academic achievement and achieve Arkansas’ high standards.

Specifically, we will:

Make sure we go to bed on time and get the sleep necessary to pay attention in class.

Be prepared for class by completing all homework each night, including independent reading time.

Listen and pay attention during class.

Be a good role model by being friendly and helping others.
