School Choice Policy
Before a nonresident pupil may attend the Van Buren
Public Schools under the provisions of ACT 609 of 1989, as amended by ACT
284 of 1991, and ACT 109 of 1995, the pupil's parent or guardian must submit
an application to the Van Buren School District no later than July 1st of
the year in which the pupil would begin the fall semester in Van Buren Public
Schools.
Applications will be considered without regard to race, sex, color,
creed, religion, handicap or academic ability, except as stipulated
in the law.
No application will be approved for a nonresident pupil that would
cause the Van Buren School District to be unable to properly service
its resident pupils or that would endanger the certifications of the
Van Buren Public Schools.
No application will be approved for a nonresident pupil who has previously
been approved as a nonresident pupil and chose to not attend the Van
Buren schools, or who has previously been approved as a nonresident
pupil and subsequently left the Van Buren School District to return
to the resident district.
All other aspects of this policy will be the same as prescribed in
Arkansas Public School Choice ACT 609 of 1989, ACT 284 of 1991, and
ACT 109 of 1995.
