The Van Buren School District proudly partners with the Van Buren Chamber of Commerce in promoting Arkansas Scholars.
An initiative of the Arkansas Business & Education Alliance, the program is designed to help foster a strong work ethic and teach students the value of good attendance. Graduates who receive the Arkansas Scholars distinction receive a seal on their diploma demonstrating to employers and institutions of higher learning that the student is a skilled and qualified candidate. VBSD and the Chamber also hold a special recognition ceremony in the spring to honor all Arkansas Scholars graduates.
To earn the prestigious Arkansas Scholars distinction, students must:
- Earn semester grades of “C” or above in all courses
- Achieve 95% or better attendance record (averaged over four years)
- Complete the balance of the state mandated high school graduation requirements (Smart Core)
- Finish high school in eight (8) consecutive semesters
