Optional Virtual Learning Day on May 5

The Van Buren School District will have an optional Virtual Learning Day on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. Students will have the option to complete assignments virtually or to attend on-campus at schools where power has been restored.

Unfortunately, VBSD was notified late on Tuesday evening by OG&E that Butterfield Trail Middle School, Central Elementary, and King Elementary remain without power and therefore will NOT be open for on-site instruction on Wednesday. Families at these three campuses will need to continue virtual learning on Wednesday.

All remaining campuses will be open. However, many roads throughout the District remain impassable, and VBSD will NOT provide bus transportation to any campuses. Parents will be required to provide transportation for on-site learners.

VBSD recognizes that school closures pose many challenges for our families. The District is working closely with OG&E to help restore power at its remaining campuses so that on-site instruction can resume for all students as quickly as possible. Students unable to complete assignments because of the storm will be given the opportunity to complete work at a later date.
