Freshman Academy Library Site

The VBHS Freshman Academy Media Center is an up-to-date resource center where students and staff may access information to support their curriculum needs and broaden their interests. There are twenty multimedia computers that guide students to print materials, Internet resources, and curriculum-related software. The Library Media Specialist, Tammy Poole , is available to help students each school day from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.


Circulation

The media center uses an automated circulation system for check-out of all media and equipment.

Books may be checked out for 3 weeks.

Books may be renewed one time.

Reference books may be checked out for one hour or overnight.

Materials are also available through interlibrary loan from the Crawford County Public Library.

Media Collection

The books and AV materials in the collection are selected to meet the curriculum needs and interests of our students and faculty. The media center has a collection of over 9,800 items including books and audiovisual materials. The center is fully automated with an electronic card catalog to help patrons find and identify resources. 

Books--The media center has over 14,000 titles that are arranged by the Dewey Decimal System. The collection includes an extensive reference collection as well as an Arkansas collection.

AV Material--The center has hundreds of various media and materials, including DVD, cassettes, slides, charts, transparencies and audio books.

Card Catalog -- Attrium library management program provides quick and easy icon-based and keyword search capabilities.

Encyclopedias: Britannica and World Book Encylopedia

Periodical Databases: EBSCO

OCLC First Search -- provides access to more than 708 databases in 14 topic areas.

Content-filtered Internet access -- students pledge to use computers responsibly through an acceptable use agreement.
