VBSD to Offer Extended Learning Opportunity this Summer

The Van Buren School District is offering an extended learning opportunity for students this summer. Kindergarten through eighth graders can participate in a four-week summer school program at no cost to families. The program will run June 7 through July 1, Monday through Thursday at all VBSD elementary and middle school campuses. It will be held from 8 a.m. to noon and will include both breakfast and lunch. District transportation will also be available.

VBSD’s Summer School program is designed to help combat learning loss associated with the challenges of the past year. Many students experienced difficulties with the transition to distance learning last spring when campuses were closed due to COVID. Teachers will help reinforce grade-level appropriate skills and curriculum during summer school. The program will focus primarily on core subjects, including reading, mathematics, and science.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all participants. Families may also sign-up for district transportation to and from school.

Participation may be limited based on available staff at each school. To enroll, please contact your child’s school.
